Our current sun has about five billion years left before it will start to fade. Despite the many climate disruptions the Earth is facing, humanity has proven itself, so far, to be a resilient species. For centuries, scientists have been trying to grasp the uncontrollable forces of nature. That little bit of control, or the illusion of it, keeps us afloat. What does the sun mean to us? What remains when we detach, shift, and reconstruct its elements? The project is a search for a new sun, a replacement for that which lies at the core of our existence, but will one day disappear. Through the controllability of artificial light, a potential new sun is being shaped.
